I thought she was childish and since pretty much every man she interacts with, including her husband, tells her all the time how childish and stupid she is, I guess it can’t be just meand her refusal to learn anything new that might help her navigate in her new surroundings while complaining how no one likes just annoyed me until I couldn’t take it anymore. Overall, an entertaining read.
In her diary entries which run from about toshe describes in detail the events of the late French Revolution and Napoleon’s power, but there is always the personal aspect of a woman who supports the Revolution, loves her husband, her son and her family beyond anything and fears for their wellfare and safety.
The second star is pure nostalgia, for all those fond memories of the days where I would curl up on the couch and lose myself in the story. This was something that wasn’t fully realized or appreciated until the reign of Queen Victoria with her hemophilia passing genes.
